GOING THROUGH
Ch-Ch-Ch-CHANGES...
by Joel Jackson
You might not have noticed, but
there's been a very slight format change at WKAZ.
Program Director Chuck Horn says
last month the station steered gently away from the "dance music' it has been
programming for the past several years and toward more mainstream contemporary
music. "We've changed to more of a hot-hits format,' said Horn. It's something
like a 55 to 45 mix.' But he said the station will still be playing more rhythm
and blues music than any other outlet in the area.
Along with that change, WKAZ has
renamed it's "Motown Munch' program at noon weekdays "Munch Time Classics,'
spotlighting rock and roll from years past. Another new addition is Cincinnati
Bengals football.
You might not be familiar with WKAZ
(not to be confused with the former identity of WQBE-AM) because the station is
a lower powered AM, 1300 on the dial, located in St. Albans. Tuning in the
station is difficult, though not impossible, east of the Dunbar bridge. But for
some people, it's a very listenable alternative to V100 or Super 102.
