FROM THE DESK OF
David Douglas
95 WKAZ Air Personality (1973-1975)
Hi Rick:
I don't remember exactly how I found it, but I've just gone through your
website and had a lot of fun going through the pages. I can't begin to
tell you how good my years at WKAZ were, how much I learned working
there, and the friendships I retain to this day.
Sadly, I lost contact with Bob Turley about 20 years ago, and Fred
Winton, the General Manager though much of the 80s died almost ten years
ago. But I keep in contact with Cooper, and every once in a while hear
from Al Sahley and Frank George.
I left WKAZ in mid-1975 moving to New York to work for ABC News. I
spent 16 years at the network beginning as a writer, becoming a producer
and bureau chief, then special projects producer, before getting out of
the business in 1991. I've been in PR since, writing speeches for CEOs
and writing, producing and directing corporate television programs, and
now live in California's Silicon Valley.
I get back east every now and then and wind up passing through
Charleston every three or four years. And it is where my wife and I
were married 28 years ago. I loved the people and loved the station.
Truly, golden years.
Best regards,
Dave Cohen ...
