FROM THE DESK OF: Ric 'Rock and Roll' Robinson95 WKAZ Staff Announcer - 1970-1975 |

Just a quick note to let
you know I love your web site !!
I worked at ALL AMERICAN WKAZ in 1970 when I was "THE COOKER Ric Robinson" and again in 1973 when I was Ric "Rock and Roll" Robinson. Both times doing 7 till midnight. In '70 the studio looked like the helm of a battleship and we had red, white and blue everywhere. The GM was a guy named Harvey Gunthar ... but he liked to be called The Skipper. Once in a staff meeting, Jim Little started making light of the red - white - & blue on the walls, floor, even in the bathroom..."ya can't go to the toilet without seeing it", he joked. The Skipper was very serious about the All American look and without missing a beat, he turned to Jim and said "don't make fun of the f#$king flag" ! No one ever mentioned it again. I ended up becoming a West Virginia State Trooper and retired in late '99. Next, I did a talk show on 700 WLW until August 2000. I'm now teaching at a Cincinnati area high school and playing oldies on WGRR Oldies 103.5. They say we're the 6th highest rated oldies station in the nation. Could be ... its a hell of a place to play. Take care and keep up the great job with your site.
